The second auction of the 2024 Women's Premier League (WPL) will take place on Saturday, December 9, in Mumbai. This is the first-ever mini-auction for the league. The first season was won by Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians who defeated the Delhi Capitals in the final at the CCI Stadium in Mumbai.

The second auction of the Women's Premier League (WPL) will take place on Saturday (December 9) in Mumbai as teams aim to build on a brilliant first season of the league. The bidding war will take place just hours before the second women's T20I between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium.
The second auction will see a total of 165 players go under the hammer, with only two players, Deandra Dottin and Kim Garth, having a base price of Rs. 50 lakh. Australia's star all-rounders Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham have a base price of Rs. 40 lakhs. Devika Vaidya, Uma Chetry, and Mannat Kashyap are the biggest Indian names on sale.
Gujarat Giants have the biggest purse, while title holders Mumbai Indians have the lowest, and Delhi Capitals have the fewest slots available. Across the five teams, there is Rs. 17.65 crore to spend, with a maximum of 30 players that can be sold, of which only nine can be overseas.
This is the first-ever mini-auction of the WPL as the league progresses towards its second edition, which could be played in multiple cities. The first season was played in two venues across Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians lifted the title
