The White Lotus Season 3 To Begin Filming Early 2024, Creator Says It Will Be 'Longer, Bigger, Crazier'

Creator Mike White revealed that he wanted to begin production on the new season of The White Lotus as early as possible in the new year. Now that the SAG AFTRA strike has been resolved, the makers get begin on the casting process for the third season which is expected to be filmed in Thailand. Mike White on The White Lotus Season 3

The White Lotus could be opening its doors to new guests very soon as creator and writer Mike White is almost ready to cast. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly magazine, White shared, "I'm seriously finishing scripts." He also added that there are "lots of parts to cast" and he was "more than eager to get going."

Japan and Thailand were some of the locations being considered for the upcoming season and apparently the latter has won out. White also went on to say in the interview that he was quite eager to begin. He said, "It's going to be a supersized White Lotus. It's going to be longer, bigger, crazier. I don't know what people will think, but I am super excited, so at least for my own barometer, that's a good thing ... I'm super excited about the content of the season."

Creator open for an all-star season

Actors Jennifer Coolidge and Jon Gries were the only characters who returned for the second season of The White Lotus which was set in Italy. Reportedly, season one character Belinda Lindsey, played by Natasha Rothwell is expected to turn up in the new season. White also stated that he didn't want too many characters to pop back again.

White said, "It would be easy to just be full-on anthology, but I think it's more fun to have little threads through the show. If the show goes on for a couple of seasons, it would be fun to have an all-star season."

The second season of The White Lotus received 12 nominations at the 2023 Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series. The awards ceremony is scheduled for January 15, 2024; it was delayed because of the writers' and actors' strikes in Hollywood.
