Stock market today: GIFT Nifty, around 7:30 am on Monday, was down by 15 points or 0.07 per cent at 21,078 points. The index hinted at a muted start for Dalal Street ahead of market opening, in stark contrast to the closing bell on Friday.
The benchmark Sensex and Nifty both bounced back and closed at new lifetime highs on Friday. This came after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) increased the growth forecast for the current fiscal year and kept policy rates unchanged. As a result, there was significant buying in banking and other rate-sensitive stocks.
The 30-share BSE Sensex rose by 303.91 points, or 0.44 per cent, reaching a new peak of 69,825.60. During the day, the index touched its highest level of 69,893.80. Additionally, the broader index Nifty also rose by 68.25 points or 0.33 per cent, reaching a fresh record high of 20,969.40.

  1. Hindustan Foods: Hindustan Foods Limited has to pay a fine of Rs 52.21 lakh due to the Company's failure to comply with certain rules set by Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) related to how many people should be on their Board of Directors.
  2. Jubilant Industries: Manu Ahuja, the Managing Director and CEO of Jubilant Industries passed away on December 10.
  3. Cipla: The multinational pharmaceutical company on Sunday told the exchanges that its wholly-owned subsidiary InvaGen Pharmaceuticals USA is voluntarily recalling one lot of Vigabatrin for Oral Solution, USP 500mg.
  4. Lloyds Metals and Energy: The board of directors has approved the company's proposal to expand its iron ore mining capacity to 55 million tonnes per year. They have also given the green light for the establishment of a Banded Hematite Quartzite (BHQ) Beneficiation plant in the Gadchiroli district with a capacity of 45 million tonnes per annum.
  5. Tata Motors: The Tata Group company announced that the prices of its commercial vehicles will be increased by 3 per cent from January 1, 2024 onwards.
