In another unrelated incident, bodies of four family members from Andhra Pradesh were found hanging from the ceiling of a room in Kailash Bhawan Dharamshala in Devnathpur, Varanasi, on Thursday evening. Commissioner of Police Ashok Mutha Jain, after examining the scene, identified the deceased as Konda Babu (50), his wife Lavanya (45), and their sons Rajesh (25) and Jairam (23) from East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh.
The incident came to light when the group of pilgrims couldn't open their room in the evening. This led the Dharamshala staff to look into the matter. CP Jain, along with other officials and forensic experts, arrived at the scene to conduct a thorough investigation before entering the room.
A suicide note written in Telugu was found, explaining that Babu faced financial issues in his district, leading the family to leave their home two months ago. They had been travelling to different cities, and when their funds ran out, they decided to take their own lives.
Commissioner of Police Ashok Mutha Jain, after examining the scene, identified the deceased as Konda Babu (50), his wife Lavanya (45), and their sons Rajesh (25) and Jairam (23) from East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh.
Police Commissioner Mutha Ashok Jain said, "Four of them were from the same family belonging to Andhra Pradesh and were staying in an ashram here. Prima facie it appears that they hanged themselves...It seems to be a suicide pact and these people have been staying here since 3rd December and it appears that they did it because of some personal issues...three of them were male and one was female...Through the suicide note, we can figure out that there were some financial issues".
Jain further added that a more detailed investigation would bring clarity, including translating the entire suicide note and figuring out who was part of the financial dispute. The bodies have been sent for a post-mortem examination.
