Jaipur: Rajasthan is marching ahead towards being a modern health state after being labelled as a "beemaru rajya" (ailing state) for years, said Shubhra Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical Health & Family Welfare Department.
Speaking at Navbharat Navnirman Manch, Shubhra Singh listed schemes and services provided by the Rajasthan government for the wellbeing of the people of the state.
She said, "Rajasthan was termed beemaru state for a very long time but the state has challenged and overcome the crisis related to history, geography and economic crisis to progressed towards modern health state."
"There is no other state which supports the health sector like Ashok Gehlot government does. In every nook and corner, people are being benefitted by government scheme. Free medical treatment and medicines are being provided in government hospitals in the state today," she added.

How Rural Areas Are Benefited

Dr. Jitender Soni, MD, National Health Mission, spoke about how the state government ensured last mile delivery in healthcare.
"We have two type of challenges. One is some districts are bigger than other and there are some districts which are dominated by tribals. For this, all health centres are being turned into health wellness centre where community health officers have been deployed who cater to the population of a village. We have ASGA centres in all villages."
Further, Shubhra Singh said medical treatment and tests are done free of cost in all government hospitals and as many 1800 medicines are provided free of cost.
"Rs 25 lakh annual health cover is being provided to families, which is highest in the entire country," she added while speaking about Chiranjeevi Yojana.
"Because of this scheme, in Rajasthan, there is 90% isurance over while it is just 40% on national level," she added.
Mukhyamantri Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana offers a registered family an annual health insurance benefit of Rs 25 lakh. The programme not only provides free medical care in government and linked private hospitals, but it also pays for expenses up to 15 days after a patient is discharged and up to five days before that. Since every ailment is covered by this insurance, the majority of citizens are content to pay a little annual payment of Rs 850 to use the services, which is 50per cent of the total premium of Rs 1,700, with the remaining 50 per cent being covered by the state exchequer.
