KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • Pakistan will face Australia in a three-match Test series.
  • The first Test will start on December 14 in Perth.
  • Shan Masood will lead Pakistan in the Test series.
Pakistan's men’s cricket team is in Australia these days, where they are set to face the hosts in a three-match Test series. The red-ball matches between the reigning World Test Championship (WTC) winners and table toppers of the 2023–25 WTC will start on December 14 in Perth. Pat Cummins, who became the fifth Australian cricketer to win the ODI World Cup title last month, will lead the Aussies in the Test series, whereas Pakistan will have a new captain in the form of Shan Masood.
The left-handed batter was appointed as the captain of the Pakistan men’s cricket team after star batter Babar Azam quit Pakistan’s captaincy after the team’s poor show in the ODI World Cup 2023. In the 2023 edition of the ODI World Cup, Pakistan could only manage to win four out of nine league stage matches and failed to qualify for the semi-finals.
Pakistan has never managed to win a Test series against Australia in Australia, and this time under Masood’s captaincy, the Men in Green would like to script history. But it won’t be an easy task, as the Aussies are a very strong team in their home conditions. The Baggy Greens have won 34 out of 69 Tests played against Pakistan so far, and they will be desperate to make it 37 wins at the end of the series.
Ahead of the start of the Test series, here’s all you need to know about Pakistan’s tour of Australia:
