Mumbai: In a Heroic Move, BEST Bus Conductor Saves 62-Year-Old's Life By Giving Him CPR

The bus conductor quickly rushed the elderly man to rescue and gave him timely CPR after which he rushed the elderly person to ESIS Hospital Thane for further treatment.

Mumbai: A braveheart conductor in Mumbai's BEST (Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport) bus came to the rescue of a 62-year-old passenger who suffered a heart attack on Sunday, December 10. The elderly passenger had fainted while the bus on route number 453 was proceeding from Ghatkopar depot to Lokmanya Nagar in Thane. The incident occurred during the afternoon.
At 2.20 pm near Mulund check naka, a passenger, Rohidas Pawar, fainted inside the bus after he sustained a heart attack. The bus conductor, Arjun Pandurang Lad, quickly rushed to his rescue and gave him timely CPR after which he rushed the elderly person to ESIS Hospital Thane for further treatment.
"Due to timely intervention, the person’s life was saved and he is reported to be stable now,” an official said.
The BEST plans to felicitate the conductor for his presence of mind and saving a life. The official said that several conductors were recently given training on CPR and how to respond to such situations in bus.
"Rohidas Ramchandra Pawar is now in stable condition, underscoring the importance of equipping transport personnel with life-saving skills," stated an official of BEST.
Both passengers and authorities lauded Lad's quick thinking of the conductor highlighting the crucial role of such skills in handling emergencies within public transport. Another official from BEST praised the incident, saying, "This showcases BEST's commitment to passenger safety through proactive CPR training for all conductors."
