Kodagu: In a shocking incident, a couple killed their 11-year-old daughter and later died by suicide at a resort in Kagggodlu village near Madikeri in Kodagu district of Karnataka.
Vinod Babusenan (43), his wife GB Abraham (38) and their daughter Jane Maria Jacob were residents of Kollam, Kerala. They were found dead at the resort on Saturday morning.
The police recovered a suicide note from the site, which said that financial problems led the family to take such an extreme step, reported The Times Of India.
As per the report, the family reached the resort in a SUV car on Friday and checked into a cottage at around 6:00 pm. The family rested for some time and then cheerfully walked around the resort.
The family also went to a nearby shop before coming back for dinner. Vinod told the resort staff that they would check at 10 am on Saturday. However, when they did not do the same, the staff knocked on their door but got no response.
The staff knocked again after 30 minutes. Due to growing suspicion, the employees looked through the window at around 11:00 am and found the couple hanging, the officials said.
The Madikeri Rural Police were immediately informed and they arrived at the spot. The bodies were sent for post-mortem and their relatives were informed about their death.
Reportedly, the couple was engaged in a business near Kollam. The police have registered a case.
