Jr Mehmood FOUGHT With Legendary Actor Mehmood During Their First Film Together. Here's Why

Junior Mehmood has definitely created a name for himself among the giants of Bollywood. The late actor started his career as a child artist in the early times of 60s and 70s. However, it must have been a dream come true for him to be able to be a part of Mehmood’s film Suhaag Raat. In the film, Junior was set to play the character of Mehmood’s brother-in-law. However, their first collaboration turned into playful exchange of words after the senior actor ignored inviting the junior for a family function.

During an old conversation with Doordarshan Sahyadri for their show Koshish Se Kaamyaabi Tak, Junior Mehmood opened up about his banter with Mehmood on the sets of Suhaag Raat. When the legendary actor didn’t invite Junior Mehmood to his daughter’s function, Junior went up to the senior and said, “Kya Bhaijaan, mera baap koi producer, director ya writer nahi hai toh main aapke bachche ke function me nahi aa sakta kya? (Brother, just because my parents are not from a film background, am I not good enough to be invited to your function?)”

Junior Mehmood then revealed that Mehmood was surprised to see the guts of this young fellow. He retaliated, “Arey nahin, tu bhi aana. (Nothing like it, you are invited too)” To his, Junior Mehmood replied, “Bhaijaan ek baat bolu, main agar aapki party me aaunga na toh pura function hila dunga. (My presence at the function will be a thing to remember, mark my words.)” This statement from the junior star shocked Mehmood once again. We’re pretty sure that Junior Mehmood surely must have made that function a memorable one.

Suhaag Raat is a Hindi drama film directed by R. Bhattacharya and starring Jeetendra and Rajshree. The film revolves around Rajjo, a young woman who loses her family in a war and marries a wealthy man’s son, Uday. However, Uday is a womanizer and a murderer who dies on their wedding night. Rajjo then faces the scandal of being pregnant with another man’s child, who is none other than her first love, Jeetendra, a crippled war veteran. The film features Mehmood and Junior Mehmood as comic relief characters.
