Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has said that the South Africa Tests are a big opportunity for Rohit Sharma to make up for the World Cup final loss to Australia last month. Rohit and Virat Kohli didn't play in the T20I series against Australia and then requested a break from the white-ball games against South Africa.

India have never won a Test series in South Africa and it is a common belief that Rohit and Kohli will be motivated to give their best in the two Tests.
"Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were really at the peak of their powers in the last 6-8 months. Like Jacques Kallis said Rohit Sharma is going to be key for India in the Test series. Rohit Sharma will have a big role to play to set up the No. 3,4,5. Whatever happens, this is Rohit Sharma's opportunity to make up for the World Cup final loss," Gavaskar told host broadcaster Star Sports.
Rohit was seen in tears after the defeat in the final of the World Cup against Australia. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the dressing room after the final to have a word with the inconsolable players.
India will play South Africa in the second T20I of the three-match series after the first match in Durban was washed out. The second match will be played in Gqberha.
Rohit and Kohli were phased out of the T20Is after the World Cup last year and the two senior players featured only in the ODIs and Tests.
