Raipur: The outgoing Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh and Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel on Sunday congratulated the incoming Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Vishnu Deo Sai.
On Sunday, December 10, Vishnu Deo Sai was named the chief minister-elect. A tribal leader, Vishnu Deo Sai was not a name doing the rounds among chief ministerial contenders. But on the campaign trail, Amit Shah had said that if the people of Chhattisgarh made Vishnu Singh Deo an MLA, he would ensure that Deo becomes a "bada admi". Having ridden the political tide from sarpanch to chief minister, Deo indeed is now a "bada admi".
Taking to X, Bhupesh Baghel wrote, "Congratulations and best wishes to Kunkuri MLA and senior BJP leader Shri Vishnu Dev Sai ji on being elected as the leader of the BJP Legislative Party. I wish that you take forward the journey of justice and progress of Chhattisgarh as the Chief Minister. Vishnu Deo Sai."

Born in Bagia village in Jashpur district, Vishnu Deo Sai stepped into politics for the first time in 1990 when he won the sarpanch elections unopposed. Sai once said that he had to sell off a party of his property in order to contest the elections back in 1990. Vishnu Deo Sai was a two-time MLA in undivided Madhya Pradesh.
