Kundan Green Energy, a key player in the renewable energy sector, has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the state of Uttarakhand, marking a significant step forward in the state's efforts to boost its hydropower generation capacity.
According to The Economic Times report, the agreement was formalised in the presence of Uttarakhand's Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, along with the Principal Secretary (Power).
The report added that this new initiative by Kundan Green Energy is set to make a substantial impact on Uttarakhand's power generation capabilities. The company has projected a timeline of 4-5 years for the completion of these hydropower projects.
Moreover, this venture is expected to generate approximately 500 direct and 2000 indirect job opportunities, indicating a notable boost to the local economy. The projects will utilize cutting-edge technology and adhere to sustainable environmental practices, aligning with global standards for renewable energy developments.
As quoted by The Economic Times, Apurve Goel, Director of Kundan Green Energy said, 'We are committed to the national agenda of optimizing renewable energy in India,'. He added, 'Hydropower is complex, long haul and capital intensive. At the same time, it is always available, since it is independent of wind speeds or sunshine. The state of Uttarakhand has very vast untapped potential in hydropower, which we are working to develop.'
According to the report, Uttarakhand, despite its significant potential for renewable power generation, currently relies on importing power to meet its needs. This new collaboration with Kundan Green Energy aims to change that, with the company's spokesperson underscoring their commitment to aiding the state in achieving self-sufficiency in power generation through renewable sources. This, in turn, is expected to support Uttarakhand's socio-economic and developmental objectives.
