Ahmedabad: In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old woman from the Asarwa area of Ahmedabad filed a complaint alleging against her husband for installing CCTV cameras in their house to monitor her movements. When she protested, he assaulted her and deserted her and her five-year-old daughter.
The woman stated that she was previously married to a man from Rajasthan in 2013, with whom she had a daughter. Due to marital issues, they divorced. Subsequently, she married a 32-year-old man from Kalol, on November 3, 2022.
According to the woman, her second husband made a vow to take her daughter in and nurture her as his own. Soon after they were married, the accused started having arguments with her about home matters after first refusing to adopt her daughter.
The complainant's husband installed four CCTV cameras in their home on December 27, 2022, one in each room. He would then use his phone to view the live video. Through the cameras, her father-in-law and mother-in-law, who resided in a different home, also observed her. When her husband or in-laws saw a light or fan on in the house, they would scold her, as per a Times of India report.
The woman, furious, proceeded to her parents' house in the Asarwa neighbourhood of Haripura.
Her husband visited Asarwa on November 3, 2023, and he made a vow to refrain from bothering her if she went back with him. He made her sleep in front of the cameras once more when she returned. They got into a fight as a result, and she broke every camera. Then, she claimed, her husband beat her and left her.
The woman accused her husband and in-laws of domestic abuse, hurtful threats, criminal intimidation, and aiding and abetting.
