Braun Strowman, the WWE's "Monster Among Men," has been absent from the ring for a significant portion of 2023 due to a neck injury.
It was in May 2023 that Strowman suffered a neck injury that was initially reported as a concussion. However, further scans revealed that he had a more severe issue requiring surgery. In June, he underwent a cervical fusion on his C4 and C5 vertebrae under the supervision of Dr. Cordover at Andrews Sports Medicine. This procedure involved merging these two vertebrae with a metal plate and screws to stabilize the area and prevent further damage.
Since then, Strowman has been diligently undergoing rehabilitation following his surgery. From time to time, he has also been sharing updates on his progress through social media.
In an exclusive chat with Times Now, the giant shared how arduous the process has been and how he has had to regain the weight he had lost.
"It's been a long process due to the extent of the surgery I have had. Doctors had to fuse the C4 and C5 vertebrae in my neck. They went in through the front of my throat and put a metal plate and four screws in my neck. So the first eight weeks after my surgery, I had to do nothing. I was not eating well and lost 35 pounds in eight weeks." Strowman revealed.
"Then I got cleared a little bit to do weightlifting, and now my recovery is great. Doctors are pleased with it and now waiting for my bones to grow," he added.
When asked about the changes he brought about in his diet and lifestyle, the 40-year-old said, "So for me, the biggest thing was to put on weight, and I started pounding food like heavy calories and fatty foods. To be honest, I was a bit wider, and then I became lean, and now it's about getting back to shape to come back a bit meaner and nastier."
Braun Strowman was in India as part of Sony Sports Network’s WWE promotional tour.
