Reigning World Test Championship winners Australia will begin its home summer with a three-match Test series against 2023–25 WTC table-toppers Pakistan. The first Test between the two teams is scheduled to take place at Perth Stadium in Perth on December 14. Pat Cummins, who became the fifth Australian to win the ODI World Cup title as captain last month, will lead the Baggy Green in three Tests against Pakistan, which will play under the leadership of Shan Masood.
Masood was appointed as the new captain of the Pakistan Test team after Babar Azam stepped down from his role. Babar quit as Pakistan captain in all three formats of the game last month after the team’s poor performance in the ODI World Cup 2023, where the Men in Green could only manage to win four out of nine league stage matches.
Pakistan has started well in the ongoing WTC 2023–25 cycle, and they would like to maintain the momentum by securing their first-ever Test series win on Australian soil this year. However, it won’t be an easy task for the Men in Green.
