Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor's Animal, helmed and written by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, arrived in the cinema halls on December 1. Despite mixed reviews and criticism from a section of the internet, the action drama managed to pull moviegoers to the theatres. After ending the first week on a high note, Animal maintained its pace. Now, the film has surpassed the lifetime box office collection (domestic) of Sanju, which was Ranbir's highest-grossing film before the latest release.

Rashmika Mandanna on her Animal character
Amid criticism over the portrayal of masculinity and abuse, the leading lady of Animal penned a note about her character Gitanjali. She wrote, "At times as an actor, I would question some of Gitanjali’s actions... And I remember my director telling me - this was their story... Ranvijay’s & Gitanjali’s... it was their love and passion, their families and their lives - this is who they are...
In a world full of violence, hurt and unbearable pain - Gitanjali would bring peace trust and calm... She would pray to her Gods to keep her husband and her kids safe...She was the rock that weathered all the storms..."
Animal also stars Bobby Deol, Anil Kapoor, Tripti Dimri and others in pivotal roles.
