Meghna Gulzar’s latest film, Sam Bahadur, has been making waves ever since its announcement in 2022. However, the film saw a tough time competing with Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. Now, according to the reports, director Meghna Gulzar will soon be joining hands with Sidharth Malhotra for their next project which promises to take the audience through a horrifying true story. The reports suggest that the duo has been in talks for the project for quite some time and has found a subject that will surely give the audience a run for their money.

According to a report by Pinkvilla, the film in question is based on a spine-chilling true story. It is expected to go on floors by mid-2024 and will be aiming for an outstanding cinematic experience. The release date, name and plot of the film is yet to be revealed.

A source close to the development revealed, “Sidharth Malhotra and Meghna Gulzar have been exploring a possible partnership for some time. “Sid and Meghna Gulzar have been discussing a probable collaboration for a while now and they have finally zeroed in on a subject whose narrative will take the nation by shock. It’s set against the backdrop of a horrifying true story and the idea is to portray it with utmost sensitivity for the big screen. The film will go on floors by Mid-2024.”

Meghna Gulzar, who is famous for her thorough investigation and touching narration, has allegedly devoted years to collecting information on this specific topic. “Meghna had done all her research on this subject through the last few years and got the source material in place for the subject. She was deeply moved by all that happened and Sid resonated with her emotions on reading the script. Both stakeholders are looking forward to teaming up on this special project,” the source added. He also revealed that the film will be produced by Junglee Pictures, who has previously collaborated with Meghna for Raazi and Talwar.

Sam Bahadur was Meghna Gulzar’s previous directorial project with Vicky Kaushal in the main role. The movie, which depicted the life of India’s first Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, earned universal praise for its captivating story and impressive acting.
