Australia has decided to tighten visa rules for international students and low skilled workers in order to fix migration system announced the country on Monday. Not just Australia, but Canada as well has revised its student visa rules. The rules will now make things tougher for international students.
As per the new changes, international students would have to secure higher ratings on English test like which would make things difficult for students and low skilled workers especially. There would be more scrutiny on student's second visa application that would extend their stay in the country due to the new policies
During the media briefing, Home Affairs Minister said that their strategy will migration numbers back to normal. Further he said that, but it is not just about numbers, not just about this moment and experience of migration the country is having at this time but about Australia's future.
According to Reuters, the shares of IDP Education, which provides placement and education services to international students, were down more than 3 percent in afternoon trade.
The annual migration numbers were boosted by Australia last year to support the businesses recruit staff to fill gaps after the COVID-19 pandemic brought strict border controls. Students and workers were also helpless for those two years due to the pandemic
In similar news, studying in Canada will get tougher for international students as the Canadian government have revised its student visa rules.
As per the new rules, the immigration ministry has doubled the cost-of-living financial requirement for international students planning to study in Canada. They will have to prove they have CAN$20,635 in available funds other than the amount that needs to be paid for tuition.
